Around 600 years ago, Baden was a glowing Swiss Confederal Diet location. In addition to the prestigious political events, countless ploys and conspiracies were in progress. The dark secrets of the city will be revealed on this tour.
Witches, murderers, harlots and arsonists
Eerie stories and a visit to the old prison cell in the city tower
Meeting point: Theaterplatz square
Duration: 1.5 hours
In the Middle Ages, human life was often of little value and the right to "freedom, equality and fraternity" was by no means guaranteed by law. Witches, murderers, prostitutes and arsonists were condemned and executed – sometimes using cruel methods.
The visit takes in the old prison cells in the city tower, Baden's landmark, and other sinister sites. The incredible, indeed horrifying texts of the "Badener Todbücher" (Baden death books) will be read out. This tour is not for the faint of heart!
